NCC reminds caravan owners about importance of servicing

As the Easter holiday begins, the NCC (National Caravan Council) is reminding caravan and motorhome owners that regular servicing is very important - especially if the vehicle has been unused for a period of time.  The moving parts (wheels, chassis and brakes etc) and particularly the gas and electrical appliances need to be checked regularly.  The best place to have this done is at an Approved Workshop.

Workshop winners
Each year, the Approved Workshop Scheme (AWS) presents awards to both fixed and mobile workshops that have achieved exceptionally high levels both in their most recent workshop assessment and in the results from their customer surveys. All customers who have had their vehicles serviced during the year at an Approved centre can vote.

The award ceremony, sponsored by TRUMA (UK) Ltd, took place on 8 March in Harrogate and the winners are:

Fixed workshop - Tilshead Caravans Ltd, Salisbury, Wiltshire
Mobile workshop - Leisure Tech North East, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire

Runners up:
Fixed workshop - GW Caravan Services Ltd, Worksop, Notts
Mobile workshop - BC Caravan Services, Fleet, Hampshire

Winning ways for Cheshire AWS service centre
Caravancare
, an Approved Workshop scheme mobile workshop in Warrington, currently boasts an impressive 99 per cent customer satisfaction level.  The results come from customers who fill in an online questionnaire about the service received at their chosen AWS member; the questionnaires are then analysed and the results posted on this site so potential customers can see them.

One of Caravancare's customers recently became the latest winner of the £150 prize in the Approved Workshop Scheme draw – into which all caravanners/motorhomers who fill in the survey are entered.

New workshops from the West Country to the Highlands
More than a dozen new businesses have joined the Approved Workshop Scheme in the last few months.  The new recruits to the service mean that from Bideford (Hill Top Caravans) through the Midlands (Pedley’s Leisure) to Inverness (Highland Campervans), there is increased choice for tourer and motorhome servicing.

Other businesses to have joined are: Adams Morey Ltd; DNR Caravan Services; Greenbank Caravans & Trailers Ltd; Norfolk Caravan Services; P & D Storage; Teesside Caravans; T C Motorhome and Caravan Centre; Top Road Tourers; Tourer Tech Mobile Service Engineers and Wessex Leisure Vehicle Services.

High satisfaction levels from AWS customers
In the first survey into satisfaction levels among customers who used the Approved Workshop scheme, a massive 9.5 out of 10 (95 per cent) reported they were satisfied with the service received. Nearly 3,000 caravanners responded to the survey to rate workshops in the scheme.

The survey can be filled in online, after work has been completed by an Approved Workshop. Respondents' details are kept confidential, thus encouraging honest answers, although comments can be passed on to workshops if permission is given. All respondents are entered into a quarterly prize draw; the survey is ongoing and workshops are given feedback on their performance.
